Westlands: The Hound Knight

Welcome to The Hound Knight, a Menagerie Press Westlands adventure. A bewitched knight and his pet hellhound are scouring the countryside, imprisoning young and healthy people under false pretenses. The fallen knight works on behalf of a vampire lord and is bringing chattel to his hungry master. This adventure is designed for three to five characters.

In Westlands, we’ve taken the core open-license 2D6 fantasy reference material and are adding extra content, including reworked (more dangerous!) sorcery mechanics, optional rules for simple firearms, and an expanded bestiary.

The name Westlands is a nod to the West Marches RPG campaign style, which is a much more free-form, adventure-seeking campaign where the players decide their motivations and goals, rather than being directed via the game master.

Westlands is setting-neutral, and lets you create whatever adventure you imagine. It is built on the open-license reference material for Sword of Cepheus, which is a 2D6 fantasy RPG that is rooted in earlier 2D6 science-fiction RPGs.

THE GOD WHEEL

Village legends tell of a gargantuan stone wheel lodged in the earth. In your journeys, you’ve discovered the old tales are true, and the God Wheel exists. Legends talk about how the wheel was sundered from a chariot of the gods, falling to rest in the Material Plane.

THE MUSIC OF CHTHON

A musical trio is dead, torn asunder while staying in the local inn. All fingers point to a solitary fiddle-playing drifter. Where is this errant fiddler now, and how did he commit these unspeakable murders?

THE JUBILE TOWER

Something is fetid in the remote village of Kisyn. The idyllic hamlet is ruled by an esoteric council called the Servants of Joy, who sacrifice travelers to produce an addicting feeling of bliss..

SOZRINOTH’S TEMPLE

The PCs must find an artifact and return it to the temple of a silver dragon in order to protect a small mountain village.

A dark knight is kidnapping locals under pretense, accusing them of false crimes. In secret, the knight is bringing human chattel to a dark master. Can the heroes intercede before it’s too late?

The Wreck of the Paitr Ihrdahl

A barge crashed on the rocks, and the heroes are hired to salvage whatever goods remain on the wreck. Unfortunately, the adventurers aren’t the only ones interested in the cargo.

Tomb of Palu

The adventurers explore an ancient tomb to break a curse destroying Pine Bend village. Beneath the earth, the party dis- covers the sleeping god Palu, now long forgotten. After braving the god’s ritual underworld, the adventurers must make a choice that impacts their world forever.

Goblingrief

An original level 1-3 adventure made for D&D 5e.

The adventurers are hired by Lord Brendat Aradu to rescue his fiancé from a band of goblins who are holding him for ransom. What the goblins want is the enchanted sword Goblingrief so that they can destroy it. Lord Aradu claims the sword is in the catacombs, and if the party wants it, they’ll have to go get it.
